Albert Wisner Public Library will host the two holiday concerts in the coming weeks:
Christmas Carol Jubilee, Sunday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m.
Join us for an afternoon of holiday cheer. Celebrate the holiday season with an enchanting program of 17th and 18th century carols from England, Ireland, France, Germany and the American colonies - sung in English, French and German - with narrative explaining the origins of the holiday’s traditions and décor.
The musicians: Carol Beaugard is an actress who has performed at Carnegie Hall, Off Broadway, TV, film and commercials. She starred as Yente on the Broadway National Tour directed by Tony winner Bartlett Sher. She’s joined by her husband, Wayne Fugate on mandolin and Michael Kobetitsch on guitar and vocals.
James Emery and the String Trio of New York, Sunday, Dec. 19, at 2 p.m.
Join the String Trio of New York for an afternoon of original compositions and perennial favorites from one the most beloved musical groups around.
Hailed by critics worldwide, the New York Times observed that the Trio “... played jazz that was rhythmically alive, stylistically varied and consistently inventive as anything this listener has heard recently. JazzTimes raved: “No individual or ensemble has done more to demystify chamber jazz, and to realize its potential for warmth, sensuousness, and beauty...than the String Trio of New York.” The Philadelphia Inquirer said that the S3NY “...is solidly prepared, but offers the excitement of improvisation projected through unshakable musicianship.”
Registration is required for both concerts online at www.albertwisnerlibrary.org or call the Help Desk at 845-986-1047, ext. 3.
Music on McFarland is made possible by generous funding from Glenn P. and Susan D. Dickes to the AWPL Foundation.
