Village Billiards to feature artwork of Danny Steinman
WARWICK — Village Billiards, 17 Main St., will host "Danny Steinman's Psych-Pop Adventure," an artist opening night, on Friday, March 3, from 7 to 10 p.m.
Everyone will have the opportunity to enjoy a night of art interpretation and conversation with live music from 8 to 11 p.m.
The complete collection will also remain on display for the duration of the month. And a portion of the proceeds from the sale of artwork will go to the Warwick Valley Humane Society.
When he's not molding minds teaching physical science to Bronx middle-school students, Steinman is usually in his Hudson Valley home with his family, churning out colorful, vibrant and powerful large-scale drawings in a style he has termed, "Psych-Pop."
His work has been described as audacious in both design and approach, bearing the mark of a risk-taker, where bold decisions give way to brilliant results, at once childlike in its inherent freedom and purity, yet reflective of clear visionary design.
A quintessential Steinman work, created on large foam-core boards using a variety of designer ink and markers, sees smaller forms and figures combining to create a larger image. This is the hallmark of Steinman's style, one that is all his own.
Village Billiards is open Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to midnight, Friday from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m., Saturday from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to midnight. Call 544-7750.
