Get ready for some live entertainment at the Albert Wisner Public Library. On Sunday, June 2, the Scooches will be performing starting at 2 p.m. It will be an afternoon of toe tapping and hand clapping with this chart-topping NYC band. Their eclectic mix of Roaring ‘20s, global folk, blues, gospel, New Orleans jazz, Americana, and more will leave you no choice but to dance along!

This is part of the “Music on McFarland” series funded by a gift to the AWPL Foundation by Glenn P. and Susan D. Dickes. Register online at albertwisnerlibrary.org or call the Help Desk at 845-986-1047, option 4.

But before the music begins, stop by on Saturday, June 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the “Friends & Bookends Used Book Sale.” Friends and Bookends, the used bookstore at the Albert Wisner Public Library, will be holding its summer book sale, featuring a diverse collection of books at low prices, with most titles priced at just $1.

The library will be accepting donations of one box or bag of “almost new” fiction, non-fiction, cookbooks, and children’s books on Wednesday, May 29, and Thursday, May 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the library.

Please note: The library is unable to accept textbooks, videos, CDs, or mass market paperbacks.

Other upcoming programs

On Wednesday, June 5, at 6:30 p.m., the library will be hosting “Circle of Voices – The Taming of the Shrew Monologues.” Laurie Byro and the Circle will hold “an exploration of the intricate dynamics of power, gender, and love in Shakespeare’s ‘The Taming of the Shrew.’” Through selected monologues (available at the Help Desk), delve into the complexities of characters like Petruchio and Katharina as they navigate societal expectations and personal desires. New members are always welcome!

Then on Thursday, June 6, at 6:30 p.m. learn all about how to raise chickens. With the rising cost of basic groceries like eggs, why not consider keeping your own chickens? As with any new venture, there are some dos and don’ts, along with tips and tricks to help you bypass the learning curve and make this hobby both enjoyable and rewarding.

More information about these programs and the library can be found at albertwisnerlibrary.org or by calling 845-986-1047. The Albert Wisner Public Library is located at 1 McFarland Drive, Warwick.
