SUNY Orange Symphonic Band to perform April 28 concert

MIDDLETOWN The SUNY Symphonic Band will carry its audience from “Jupiter to Jazz” when it hosts its annual spring concert at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 28 at Middletown’s Paramount Theatre.
The evening program will include “Jupiter” by Gustav Holst, “Cajun Folk Songs” by Frank Tichelli, and Samuel Hazo’s “Southern Hymn.”
The concert will also feature a trumpet performance by Jay Solomon in tribute to the great trumpet player Maynard Ferguson. Rounding out the program will be selections by Larry Neeck, Sammy Nestico and Henry Fillmore.
Ticket prices will be $10, general admission, $5 for seniors 60 and older, and all students, and free for active duty military, children under 12 and SUNY Orange students with a valid College identification.
Under the direction of Joe Martellaro, the SUNY Orange Symphonic Band is comprised of students, teachers and members of the community. The concert is sponsored by the College’s Arts and Communication Department.
