Studio to establish national archive of women artists
HIGHLAND-The Elisa Pritzker Studio and Gallery at Casa del Arte in Highland has begun work to establish a national research archive of women artists. The W art files will be available to curators, museums, commercial galleries, scholars, art students, art collectors, and non-profit institutions. They will contain slides, visual materials, resume, artist's biography, brochures and news clips, and any other important material provided by the artists. Elisa Pritzker is an international artist, consultant, independent curator, and gallery owner is the owner/director of the Elisa Pritzker Studio at Casa del Arte. She is the cofounder of HCC-Arts, a nonprofit arts center in the Hudson Valley and the former president of the New York Society of Women Artists. She received the Women of the Future Galaxy Awards from the New York Women's Agenda and two Congressional Award from U.S. Congressman Maurice Hinchey for her "achievements and service in the area of Community Arts and Culture." She was selected as JP Morgan woman honoree of the month and has been featured in Working Woman Magazine. She was selected as the representative U.S. artist to participate in "The Pyramids of Naxos" project in Greece in relation to the Olympic Games. In February 2004, she was awarded a grant from the Puffin Foundation LTD for her project called "A Paradox of Society: Garbage to You, Money to Them."
