Spend the Fourth at Washington's Headquarters
NEWBURGH — Come to Washington’s Headquarters State Historic Site in Newburgh for its "Grand Celebration: A Family Fun Fourth!," from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4.
It’s a double birthday celebration — the nation’s and Washington’s Headquarters', the first publicly preserved historic site in the nation since July 4, 1850.
Take a guided tour of the historic headquarters and explore the museum, which houses the award-winning exhibit, "Unpacked and Rediscovered: Selections from Washington’s Headquarters’ Collection." The exhibit features more than 1,300 objects and is navigated by an electronic catalog system.
Hear The Empire Drumline perform on the lawn of Washington’s Headquarters. Take part in outdoor activities and crafts for children of all ages.
Bring your blanket, picnic basket and binoculars while taking in the majestic Hudson River with the breathtaking Hudson Highlands as a backdrop.
Admission is free, compliments of Regina Angelo. The site hours are 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Washington’s Headquarters State Historic Site is a registered national historic landmark located at the corner of Liberty and Washington Streets within the city of Newburgh’s East End Historic District.
