GOSHEN — Spend an afternoon sipping tea and nibbling on finger sandwiches in the magnificent setting of the Orange County Arboretum's gardens, located in Thomas Bull Memorial Park. The Friends of the Orange County Arboretum is hosting the event, which will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18. Volunteer hostesses will serve guests at tables set with fine china and floral centerpieces. An assortment of homemade sweet and savory treats accompanied by a variety of hot and iced teas will be served. Other highlights include a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, and door prizes. A hat contest features awards for "prettiest," "most outrageous," and "funniest" hat. "I hope residents will bring their friends to this lovely annual affair and help support this jewel of our county parks system," said County Executive Edward Diana. Tickets are $30 per person. Advanced reservations and pre-payment are required. All proceeds benefit the arboretum. To reserve a seat call Tamara Moson at 615-3828. The Orange County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation is a co-sponsor. The arboretum is accessible from the Grove Street entrance to the park, off State Route 416 in Montgomery.
