Sample 18th century foods on Jan. 20

WARWICK — The Friends of Hathorn Historical Society will host a colonial food tasting at the Warwick Town Hall Senior Center on Sunday, Jan. 20, at 1:45 p.m.
Volunteer cooks will be preparing authentic 18th century recipes to see what food was like during Revolutionary days in Warwick and will share samples.
Culinary historian Lavada Nahon, who has appeared at many regional historic sites, will also demonstrate 18th century foodways and provide tips on preparation, including some insights on the differences between food of the rich and that of the poor and enslaved.
This free event is open to all with a free-will donation at the door.
The tasting begins immediately after the historical society’s annual business meeting from 1 1:30 p.m.
All are welcome to hear about what the group discovered about Revolutionary Warwick and accomplished in 2018 and what is planned for 2019.
Snow date for the annual meeting and tasting event is Monday, Jan. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m., same location.
