Pacem In Terris welcomes The Serenade Trio
Warwick. The program consists almost entirely of music by Johann Sebastian Bach.
On September 1 at 5 p.m., Pacem in Terris will welcome The Serenade Trio, featuring Krista Bennion Feeney on violin, Jessica Troy on viola, and John Feeney on bass. The program consists almost entirely of music by Johann Sebastian Bach, with chorale preludes drawn from the Orgelbüchlein (Little Organ Book), Bach’s three-part Sinfonias (No.s 1, 9 and 10) and his Trio Sonata No. 3, BWV 527 in d minor. Other works on the program are by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Robert Schumann, including the Sonata no.2 for violin and piano titled “Liese, enfach.”
The Serenade Trio has many years of experience playing these Bach works originally written for the organ.
“We continue to be amazed by the wealth of musical material available for our combination of instruments. This music is rarely heard outside of organ recitals and Lutheran services. Not one note of JS Bach’s music has been lost. The violin plays the right hand of the organist, the viola plays the left hand, and the bass plays the keyboard operated by the organist’s feet. We’ve been told by more than one organist that hearing this music played by violin, viola, and double bass is much better than hearing it on the organ, as each part is so complex and rich in expression that it fulfills the sonic grandeur of the organ,” the organizers shared.
While the concert begins at 5 p.m. tickets go on sale at 4 p.m. on site at Pacem in Terris at 96 Covered Bridge Road, Warwick. The suggested donation is $25. This is a rain or shine event and seating is limited. No reservations will be taken. This will be the organization’s last concert of the season.
