Love will be in the air at the library on June 3 and 4
WARWICK — “Acting for a Change,” the senior improvisational theater group of the Albert Wisner Public Library, invites the community to a performance of a new play on June 4 at 2 p.m. in the library’s Community Room.
The play is entitled "Love Is In the Air: Senior Moments." It is an original improvisational play with music.
Love is in the Air tells the story of a sleepy little upstate New York village that has been chosen as the setting for a romantic comedy and the cast of village senior citizen characters must get ready for their really big show.
The play was inspired, created and developed by the participants during the spring in a series of workshops at the library led by director Linda Richmond.
On June 3, from 6 to 8 p.m., the library will host Sondheim and Shakespeare Salon with special guest musical director Stephen Borsuk.
Please join the Acting for a Change director Linda Richmond and members of the senior improvisational drama group as we warm up, salon-style, for Saturday’s performance of “Love is in the Air.”
In putting together the show, Richmond was inspired by the music and lyrics of Stephen Sondheim and works of William Shakespeare.
So, she invited Borsuk to set the show to music. He will be here Friday night to run through the music with the cast; all are welcomed for the rehearsal and next day’s performance.
Bring your voice (bring sheet music too if there’s a special song you’d like to sing – Sondheim preferred but any Broadway tune will do).
Pros and amateurs are welcome! Shakespeare monologues related to the show will be available for impromptu readings and our delight.
To attend the performance and or the rehearsal please register online at www.albertwisnerlibrary or call 986-1047 ext. 3.
