Lecture: How Buddhism can change your life

MIDDLETOWN — Life coach Jim Giorgi will give presentation titled "Practical Buddhism: Tools for Transformation" at Orange County Community College. Giorgi will give an overview of Buddha's teachings, explain the origins and mechanisms of human unhappiness, and simple, practical methods of transcending them. He will offer experiential exercises and demonstrate how to unift body, mind, emotions, spirit. The presentation will compliment an exhibit of large-scale Buddha paintings by Robert Lewis Hoover, an art teacher in the Goshen Central School District. In addition to being a school psychologist, psychotherapist, and neurotherapist, Giorgi is certified in the practice of Emotional Freedom Technique. In 1983, he began studying both Zen meditation and Aikido. Then, in 2000, he was ordained a Zen Buddhist Priest. Now affiliated with the Bo Hyun Sa Buddhist temple in Southwest Ranches, Fla., he has authored "Between Yesterday and Tomorrow: Transforming Ordinary Life into an Extraordinary Adventure."
