NEW WINDSOR — The Purple Heart Hall of Honor, Inc. is hosting a benefit dinner and dance event on Saturday, March 16, at Anthony's Pier 9 in New Windsor.

Entertainment will be provided by 18-time Grammy award winner Jimmy Sturr and his orchestra with special guests Chris Caffery of the Trans Siberian Orchestra and Doug Ferony.

The event will honor Purple Heart recipients over the last 80 years and troops who served and continue to serve with distinction.

“Jimmy Sturr has volunteered his considerable time and talents in support of our cause as he continues his well-known support of veterans and veteran’s causes,” said Andy Komonchak, executive director of the Purple Heart Hall of Honor, Inc.

Proceeds of the dinner/dance will go directly to the capital campaign to enhance and expand National Purple Heart Hall of Honor, located in New Windsor.

Tickets are $100 each and include dinner and dancing at Anthony’s Pier 9 in New Windsor from 6 to 11 p.m. Tables of 10 are available at a discounted price of $900.

“We encourage the entire Hudson Valley community to support our efforts while also enjoying a night of great food and dancing,” said Komonchak. “Patrons can also support the effort by donating seats to veterans. We’ve left room on our Web site reservation form for people to reserve seats at their table for veterans if they choose. We hope that this will allow veterans who might not be able to afford seats to also participate in the event.”
