Honoring Warwick's Founding Families at the City of the Dead Cemetery Walking Tour
Learn about the people and circumstances that shaped and built Warwick into the hub that it is today at the Warwick Historical Society's City of the Dead Cemetery Walking Tour on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m.at the Warwick Cemetery, 94 Oakland Ave., Warwick.
Led by Village of Warwick Historian Ivy Tulin, the tour begins at the chapel in the cemetery and will highlight the design and layout of the cemetery as you walk and hear the stories of the people who populated Warwick over the centuries.
The tour will last about an hour and a half and is not recommended for people who cannot stand for extended periods or young children.
Reservations are not required, donations are appreciated.
Cemetery presentation at the UAME
For those who are unable to attend the walking tour, there will be a presentation of the City of the Dead Cemetery Tour on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 3 to 4 p.m. at the UAME Church, 9 Forester Ave., Warwick.
Historian Tulin will share the same stories of Warwick's Founding Families from the tour and show photos of the graves and cemetery as she shares the circumstances surrounding Warwick's origins.
The renovated historic building is handicapped accessible.
