Goshen Youth Jazz Band to perform at market

    GOSHEN—The Goshen Youth Jazz Band will take center stage on the monument in Village Square on Friday, Sept. 23, from 3 to 4 p.m. as part of the market's ongoing "Homegrown Music and Art Series." The concert was postponed from last week due to threat of rain. The band, made up of more than 30 children in grades five through eight of the Goshen Central School District, will perform a range of music including swing, rock, jazz, blues, gospel, and Motown. The band is under the direction of Ellen Dickinson. The instructor is Lenny Mumbauer. The band travels to venues around the area, including the Goshen Senior Center, the Galleria Mall, and the Brotherhood Winery. Goshen-based multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Alex Phillips will perform on Friday, Sept. 30, from noon to 2 p.m. as part of the series. Performances at the market are made possible in part with funds from Orange County Tourism/Orange Arts and the County of Orange. The Goshen Farmers Market, sponsored by the Goshen Chamber of Commerce, is held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Friday through Oct. 28 in Village Square.
