On Thursday, August 29 the Florida Chamber of Commerce presented the final community music evening in the village of Florida. The Chamber sponsored the evenings of entertainment, which took place in the Seward Mapes Homestead Park on N. Main Street from 6 to 9 p.m.

Last Thursday, DJ Matty K presented music while karaoke was enjoyed by many at the beginning of the evening. Participants chose their songs and performed to an excited crowd. The youngest singer, performing Taylor Swift songs, brought down the house! She was joined in the evening by other singers young and old who performed a varied series of songs from country to rock and roll. The audience discovered just how talented the people of Florida are!

At 8 p.m. the crowd was joined by Julia Roome, who, as many remember, was a contestant on the reality show “The Voice.”

Matty K. said, “She may have been in the top 20 there, but here she’s number one!”

The young girls gathered for pictures with her and lined up on the lawn for unobstructed front row seats. Roome performed many songs, including a new self-written one that she just finished recording in Nashville. She also performed a karaoke number with all her new friends.

The evening concluded under the lights with a message from President Tom Andryshak and promises of another terrific music series to come in 2025. Stay tuned!
