Exhibit explores Victorian-era photography

Middletown — Stuart Stiles’ collection of stereoscopic images, cameras and viewers are now on exhibit through Sept. 25 in the Orange Hall Gallery loft at SUNY Orange, Middletown campus. His exhibit, “Stereoscopic 3D: Photography with the Depth of Normal Vision,” will include information and examples of photography from the Victorian era. A free master class, open to the public, is being offered by Stiles on Monday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. in Harriman Hall 111 Film Theatre. Registration is not required. A professor emeritus at the college, Stiles is a member of the New York Stereoscopic Society, the National Stereoscopic Association, the Stereoscopic Society of America, and the International Stereoscopic Union. He teaches in the Encore program at the college. Stiles wrote “Stereoscopic Saratoga Springs,” a book that takes readers/viewers on a virtual 3D tour of the resort in the Victorian era. He has presented workshops and stereo theater shows for various organizations, including the Interactive Museum in Middletown.
