It will be an all-Warwick show at The Folk Project’s Troubadour Acoustic Concert Series on Friday, Aug. 4.

Warwick, N.Y., singer-songwriter Tina Ross headlines the night, with fellow Warwickian Kyle Hancharick opening the night. This show will be worth the trip.

Tina Ross

Tina Ross is a singer-songwriter who combines her soaring, intimate voice and sonic-scaped guitar playing with songs that are like a timeless painting. A quiet, elegant fierceness runs through her songs, speaking to wonder, humility, doubt and defiance.

Ross has been recognized by the International Acoustic Music Awards and the International Blues and Roots Radio Contest as a finalist, the UK Songwriting Contest as a finalist and semi-finalist, and the John Lennon Songwriting and Solar Fest contests as an honorable mention.

John Apice, writing in the publication Americana Highways, wrote: “The (Tina’s) songs warm the soul like a fireplace in the winter and fill the room with a special amber glow.”

Ross is on her second act, starting her full-time music career in 2019 after practicing chiropractic and nutrition with her family physician husband, Andrew Hirsch, at Horizon Medical Group in Goshen. She had to overcome challenges before she could fully explore a songwriter career.

After being accidentally hit in the throat, she could not talk for more than five minutes at a time. Singing was out of the question. She worked through this successfully with doctors, physical therapists, and vocal coaches.

After Ross injured her hands as a chiropractor, she searched for a way to adjust her guitar playing to the limitations of this disability. Open tunings became an essential part of her music, opening landscapes that she would not have imagined without that adaptation. This discovery resulted in distinctive, nuanced textures in her guitar playing.
