Chateau Hathorn in Warwick will host the next session of the Orange County Historian’s Historic Taverns of Orange County Series at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26.
“The Tavern Trail events serve as a perfect social night out for those who love history and enjoy meeting up with other history buffs,” Orange County Historian Johanna Yaun said. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn about some of Orange County’s greatest landmark taverns and the surrounding area. We are thrilled that these events have become so popular and look forward to this month’s event at Chateau Hathorn.”
Chateau Hathorn is a mansion built in 1891 for businessman Victor Audubon Wilder. It was designed by the noted architect E.G.W. Dietrich. The estate fell on hard times during The Great Depression of the 1930s and in the 1950s became an equestrian center, the Warwick Dude Ranch. Dolph and Helene Zueger bought Chateau Hathorn in 1984 and spent a year restoring it to its original beauty. Chateau Hathorn is a restaurant, a bed and breakfast, and can be reserved for weddings and other events.
Guests wishing to stay for optional dinner at 7 p.m. must RSVP directly with Chateau Hathorn at 845-986-6099 or Chateau@warwick.net. Chateau Hathorn’s website is www.chateauhathorn.com.
The restaurant’s menu offers a variety of appetizers, soups, salads, meat and fish entrees and homemade desserts, many featuring local ingredients.
