Comic and musician Carla Ulbrich to open the show Chester — Steve Forbert, on guitar and harmonica, will appear at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, April 14, at Bodles at 39 Main Street in Chester. Comic and musician Carla Ulbrich will open the show. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. At age 10, Forbert began playing guitar in the Jimmie Rodgers’ tradition, later playing with local bands. In the mid-70s, he left his truck-driving days in the small town of Meridian, Miss., for the giant metropolis of New York City. Armed with just a guitar and a harmonica, he managed to cause a stir, amid the flash and clatter of the emerging New Wave. Perhaps best known for the hit single, “Romeo’s Tune,” singer-songwriter Forbert has produced nearly 30 albums throughout his decades-long career. He has released a four-track download featuring “Underwatertown,” all proceeds of which will benefit Gulfcoast victims. His latest, “The Best of Live, Rare & Unreleased Volume I,” also features keyboardist Paul Errico. Tickets are $20. For more information, visit www.steveforbert.com or www.carlau.com. On Saturday, April 15, “Getting On,” a comedy revue and dinner, will feature HotFlash and the Bodles Band, with special guests, at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $27.95. Tickets for both shows are available at 469-4595 or visit www.bodles.com.
