Eric Person brings 'The Songs You Love' to the library

WARWICK — On Friday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m., saxophonist Erick Person and his quartet will perform "The Songs You Love:" standards, blues and bop by Miles Davis, Duke Ellington John Coltrane and more.

This free performance is at the Albert Wisner Public Library and is part of “Music from McFarland Drive” series sponsored by the AWPL Foundation.

For more than 30 years, Person has composed, recorded and performed contemporary American music. He has collaborated with jazz legends such as Dave Holland, Chico Hamilton, McCoy Tyner, John Hicks and many others.

Since embarking on a solo career with his debut release, "Arrival," his music has shown originality, creativity, beautiful complexities and depth.

Person is a prolific composer who leads duo, trio and quartet projects as well as a big band. He has produced nine CD's under his leadership.

"Person is more then fine," wrote Russ Musto of All About Jazz Magazine. "He's a major talent of his generation."

Grace Lutheran Church holding annual Christmas craft fair

GREENWOOD LAKE — Grace Lutheran Church, is holding its annual Christmas Craft Fair and Bake Sale on Friday, Nov. 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Hand-crafted, seasonal gifts will be for sale as well as baked goods.

The kitchen will be open offering light, inexpensive meals – like soups, hot dogs and sauerkraut.

New Milford Edenville church is holding fair on Nov. 7

NEW MILFORD — The New Milford Edenville United Methodist Church will hold its church fair on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

There will be a bake goods table, holiday items, new and used items and a breakfast sandwich and luncheon menu.

To reach the church, take Route 94 south past ShopRite, then right on Ryerson Road, then left on Jockey Hollow Road.

Pie contest will help fund LGBT prom

WARWICK The OCNY Pride Center will hold an old-fashioned pie-eating contest and pie bake-off at the Warwick Valley Community Center on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m.

The event will also feature a bake sale, Orange County Inflatables bouncy houses and vendors.

All funds raised will be used for the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) teen prom in 2016; OCNY Pride hopes to make the prom free for all.

The Warwick Valley Community Center is located at 11 Hamilton Ave. in Warwick.

The Hudson Valley Dance Center forming youth ballet company

WARWICK — Hudson Valley Dance Center of Warwick is forming the Hudson Valley Youth Ballet Company and Pre Professional Division.

The company members will have pointe classes, variations, pas de deux training, workshops with master artists in the dance world and will have many performing opportunities.

This season's production of the Nutcracker, a Holiday Fairytale, is Dec. 19.

Library will closed early next Monday through Wednesday

WARWICK — The Albert Wisner Public Library will close at 5 p.m. on Nov. 9, 10 and 11 for the installation of a tile mural by artistic Marion Grebow.

The mural depicts various historic scenes throughout the Town of Warwick and is sponsored by donors.

Holiday lighting at Railroad Green set for Nov. 20

WARWICK — Warwick Valley Gardeners have worked together to decorate the Green.
