Brad Garcia named Warwick Valley ‘Student–Athlete of the Week’
WARWICK — Brad Garcia, who rushed for 220 yards and scored four touchdowns in the Wildcats’ 41-7 victory over Goshen last Saturday, has been named Warwick Valley High School’s “Student-Athlete of the Week” under the program sponsored by the Bill Garcia Allstate Insurance Agency.
Brad is a senior and captain on the varsity football team. By winning Saturday, the Wildcats retain the rights to house the Spirit Trophy, which goes to the victor of each Warwick-Goshen football game. The rivalry with the Gladiators is the second longest in New York State.
Brad is an honor roll student whose maintains a 94.0 grade point average with a schedule that includes many challenging courses. He has been recognized by the NYSPHSAA as a scholar–athlete for football, basketball and baseball for three consecutive years.
He returns this season as a two-time All-State Football Player and one of Section 9’s top overall student athletes.
Brad is on the radar of many college recruiters in the Northeast and has visited Holy Cross, Bucknell and Cornell.
His brother John, a class of 2012 graduate of WVHS, threw five touchdowns passes last weekend in Hartwick College’s first win of the year.
Both young men are the sons of John and Gwen Garcia of Warwick.
