Carla A. Harris

On Tuesday, July 28, 2020, God called Carla A. Harris home to heaven where her pain and suffering no longer exist. She passed away quietly in her sleep with her family by her side. She was 64 years old.

Carla was born on March 17, 1956, in New York City, but moved to Warwick at the age of two. She was the daughter of James R. Paige and Frances “Ann” Paige of Warwick. She was a graduate of Warwick Valley High School.

Carla began her career in the banking industry at the age of 18. She worked at the former Warwick Savings Bank, Provident Bank and most recently, Sterling National Bank for more than 30 years.

Carla was a lifelong and faithful member of the Union AME Church of Warwick where she was a member of the choir and various other ministries. She was known for her small stature, but powerful voice.

Carla was married to the love of her life Randy Harris for 25 years before his passing in 2011.

Together, they had two children: James and Paige. Carla is survived by her son James Harris and his significant other, Anna Karmiol; her daughter Paige Harris; her sister, Patricia Davis; her beloved granddaughter, Savannah Harris; Matthew Karmiol, who was like a second son to her; and her four goddaughters whom she and Randy raised as their own; and many close friends and extended family.

She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Randy, and sister, Michele Paige.

Her family’s statement reads: “We’d like to thank all the elders, family and friends who have helped and supported us during this difficult season. We greatly appreciate all your assistance. May God continue to bless you.”

The family received friends and family on Aug. 3 at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.

A private funeral service followed.

Interment was at Warwick cemetery. A repass was held after the interment at Warwick Town Park on Union Corners Road.
