Travel the path through history

WARWICK — Discover the people and places that helped shape Warwick's history on the weekend of June 17 and 18.
The Warwick Historical Society is participating in New York State's Path Through History Weekend celebrating the state's rich heritage. The society will be holding a variety of events over the weekend to celebrate Warwick
On Sunday, June 18,at 2 p.m., there will be an interpretive hike of Fuller Mountain. This preserve maintained by the Orange County Land Trust stretches from north of Black Rock Road in Warwick to the New Jersey border. From Fuller’s Brook, through the forests, to the summit overlooking the scenic valley, discover why Fuller Mountain attracted Native American tribes, colonial settlers and Revolutionary War soldiers.
The preserve is located at 70 Bowen Road, Warwick. There is a suggested $5 donation for the hike. This is moderate walk and is appropriate for all ages. Wear appropriate footwear and bring sunscreen and water.
Then on Saturday, June 17, and Sunday, June 19, the Historical Society will host a "Salute to Veterans" at the A.W. Buckbee Center. This museum quality, military history exhibit is a collaboration between the Warwick Historical Society and the Warwick American Legion and VFW. The exhibit features military memorabilia from the Revolutionary War to modern day. All exhibit items have been donated by local veterans and their families.
Also on display is a collection of paintings by local artist Robert Fletcher. The exhibit is open 9 a.m. to 5 p m. both days and is free to the public.
