Restaurant celebrates 25 years at the same location

'When customers say 'Give me the usual,' John and Mina Cheng exactly what they mean

Last month, Mayor Michael Newhard, Town of Warwick Justice Peter Barlet, members of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce and friends joined John and Mina Cheng to celebrate the 25th anniversary at the same location of their Chinese restaurant.

Long Spring Chinese Restaurant, 10 Oakland Ave. in the Village of Warwick, has been a favorite take-out and eatery for local residents since June 11, 1989.

Mina Cheng, a native of Singapore, and her husband, John, a native of mainland China, had operated a Chinese restaurant and take-out in Warwick's Merchant Square for about two years before moving to the present location in a building owned by Eglie Antoniades that was once home to The Warwick Advertiser.

"We would like to thank all our loyal customers for allowing us to prepare their favorite dishes all these years," said Mina Cheng. "By now, when they say, 'Give me the usual,' I know exactly what they mean and how they want it prepared. And I will do the same for all our new customers."

Long Spring Chinese Restaurant offers a large selection of Szechuan, Hunan and Cantonese style dishes, appetizers and soups, eat in or take-out. And lunch specials are served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Orders placed by phone can be ready when you arrive.

The restaurant is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. and on Sundays and holidays from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
