GREENWOOD LAKE — Greenwood Lake Public Library’s Art Gallery will present the work of artist/photographer Patty Kaminski for the month of October.
Kaminski was educated at William Patterson University of New Jersey, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A) degree and teaching certificate for Art K-12, Fine Arts and Education. She earned her Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) at Marygrove College and went on to intern at the Lois Greenfield Studio.
At the studio, Kaminski would prepare artist’s portfolios and assist in commercial shoots for Elle magazine.
Kaminski has spent the last 15 years as a public school art teacher in Paterson, N.J. She is currently teaching grades 6-8 at Don Bosco Technology Academy. As an art teacher, Patty is focused on the fine arts, as well as graphics and photography. She teaches art utilizing multi-cultural and cross-curricular themes. Students learn the foundation skills while incorporating elements they can relate to.
Her Patty Kaminski Photography studio has been serving the New Jersey and The Hudson Valley region of New York for the past eight years.
As a location lifestyle photographer, she has specialized in fine art portraits and family events (maternity, newborn, children, family). Her work is committed to “capturing the art in everyday.”
This series of paintings is inspired by the work of her 12-year-old son, Jack Kaminski. Jack is a 7th grader at Greenwood Lake Middle School. Jack uses his illustrative skills to create drawings based on comic book characters. The impressive detail and color captivate the viewer’s eye.
Along with being an artist Jack is an honor student. He is also loves to play soccer and baseball and he enjoys hanging out with his friends. He is a wonderful big brother to his 2 younger brothers. Patty was so intrigued by her son she created her own paintings inspired by his vision. The two of them oftentimes worked alongside each other discussing their work as it was being created.
Winter programKaminski will also be presenting an art program, “Winter Cardinal Pallet Painting” on Dec. 8 at the library. Young artists will be taught step by step directions on how to create a beautiful snowy cardinal scene on wooden pallets. This class will focus on foundation painting techniques along with blending and color mixing.
