GWL man arrested for possessing child pornography

GREENWOOD LAKE — A 32-year-old Greenwood Lake man has been charged with Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, a felony punishable by up to four years in prison.

State Police at Monroe reported that Sean Fachner was arrested March 12 at his home in Greenwood Lake after investigators executed a search warrant based on information they received from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the State Police Computer Crimes Unit.

State Police said investigators located several file sharing programs on Fachner’s computer which were associated with the sharing of child pornography.

The Troop F Major Crimes Unit and the Troop F Monroe Barracks assisted in the investigation.

Fachner was arraigned in Greenwood Lake Village Court and sent to the Orange County Jail on $10,000 cash and $25,000 bond pending future court dates.

GWL woman charged illegally receiving unemployment benefits

GREENWOOD LAKE — State Police have charged a 46-year-old Greenwood Lake woman with receiving $11,542 in state unemployment benefits while being gainfully employed.

Joan Schmick was charged with third-degree grand larceny, a Class “D” felony. She was arraigned in the Village of Greenwood Lake Court with a bail recommendation of $2,000 cash or $4,000 bond.
